Scuba diving would not be complete without the different scuba equipment. No, these equipment sets are not just there as mere accessories, but they are essential for to make scuba diving a safe adventure. Furthermore, these different sets of scuba diving equipment are manufactured using materials ideal for a diving environment. Some of the widely used scuba equipment includes diving regulators, re-breathers, and gas mixtures.

For a diver to enable to inhale and exhale naturally, a modern valve regulator has been proven useful. Furthermore, it has been noted that during descent, in addition to the normal atmospheric pressure, an increasing pressure of water on the chest and lungs is exhibited, thus this should be counteracted using several types of diving regulators. The single-hose open circuit 2-stage diving regular is the most commonly used scuba set. This is coupled to a pressurised gas cylinder that is single, with the first stage on the cylinder. Meanwhile, the second stage is at the mouthpiece.

For re-breathers, the closed and semi-closed re-breathers have increased in availability, although less commonly used. The mechanism of re-breathers involve reprocessing each exhaled breath for re-use by carbon dioxide build-up removal and oxygen replacement used by the diver where few or no gas bubbles are released into the water, and use much less oxygen per hour because exhaled oxygen is recovered. Further, modern re-breathers need training and maintenance since they are more complex and more expensive. Lastly, technical dives may require the use of more than one cylinder with contents of different gas mixtures which are intended to be used in the extension of bottom time, reduction of inert gas narcotic effects, and decompression times.
